GenreBlast Film Fest has announced its lineup for the seventh year of its international independent genre film festival. The four-day in-person event will feature fourteen feature films and approximately ninety short films from around the world as well as the results of their annual screenplay competition.

Hailing from the Alamo Drafthouse Theater in Winchester, Virginia, GenreBlast continues to champion truly independent genre cinema and this year presents one of its strongest lineups of cross-genre fare to date. With horror, sci-fi and fantasy, action and even cult and late night offerings, the festival prides itself on being an eclectic mix of genres and filmmakers.

Of the thirteen feature films selected this year, there are two world premieres, a North American premiere, a US premiere, an East Coast premiere, four regional premieres and four Virginia premieres, and a special preview screening.

Liam Regan’s satirical bloodbath EATING MISS CAMPBELL makes its North American premiere while independent horror film documentary THE BRILLIANT TERROR makes its US premiere. Regional premieres feature Alexandra Spieth’s ensemble thriller STAG and Syliva Caminer’s twisted FOLLOW HER, as well as Jeffrey Garcia’s cult VHS comedy BUBBLEGUM and Antonio Rotunno’s bloody Mexican Midnighter PLEASE DON’T ABANDON ME. World premieres include cult auteur Jeff Frumess’ second effort, GOUGE AWAY, as well as Jonathan Straiton’s long-awaited post-apocalyptic horror flick, JOHNNY Z. Kenneth Lui’s mockumentary, ARTISTS IN AGONY: HITMEN AT THE CODA TEAHOUSE, premieres on the East Coast. Justin Seaman’s slasher sequel THE BARN PART II premieres in Virginia alongside Marc Coleman’s bittersweet fish out of water MANFISH, Kenichi Ugana’s Japanese sci-fi dark comedy EXTRANEOUS MATTER and the satire of insane horror FRESH HELL by Ryan Imhoff and Matt Neal.

A special preview screening of GenreBlast’s feature debut with festival director Nathan D. Ludwig serving as producer with Samantha Kolesnik. GenreBlast Films presents the film adaptation of WORST LAID PLANS, a horror anthology feature film taken from the pages of the Grindhouse Press book, published by Kolesnik. Segments directed by John Hale, Jeremy Herbert and Christopher G. Moore.

The festival runs from Thursday, September 1 through Sunday, September 4 at the Alamo Winchester and concludes with a live streamed awards ceremony followed by the GB Aftermath After Party. Script table readings and a panel discussion will also be on the program during the festival.
