‘Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power’ on Amazon: Fantasy genre franchise not ready to leave the big screen?

Cinemark has apparently created a page for the one-night-only event, with a disclaimer stating that tickets for the show will be available beginning Monday, August 22, 2022 at 9:00 AM PT. The reservation also comes with a $10 snack voucher. The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power event is only available to Cinemark Movie Rewards members. The movie chain’s two-tier loyalty program includes a free subscription option. Outside of the US and Canada, Amazon will also stream the series to locations in the UK, Ireland, Argentina, Colombia, Australia, and New Zealand. Reports indicate that the fan event will take place in approximately 200 locations around the world.

According to Variety, the decision to bring “The Rings of Power” to theaters, even if just for one night, represents a largely unprecedented push by Amazon for an upcoming program. After the premiere, the series will shift to a one-episode-a-week release format, debuting its remaining six episodes each on the following Friday.
