Local favorites return to the stage at Théâtre Cailloux, more to come |


Hill Country favorites, the Symphony of the Hills and the New Buddy Holly Band, plan to bring their special brand of entertainment to the Cailloux Theater stage soon.

The Symphony will perform their annual “Pops” concert on Saturday January 9th and The New Buddy Holly Band will be performing on Saturday January 23rd.

As with all events during this time of Covid-19 concerns, special measures are planned to help reduce risks to the public and artists.

Social distancing seats will be provided, allowing no less than six feet of distance between pairs of seats. Face coverings will be required for all persons entering the establishment, and all interactions with ushers and other volunteers and staff will be “non-contact”.

“We work daily with guest artists and our own staff to determine which events can and should continue as planned, and which should be rescheduled to a later date,” said Jeffrey Brown, executive director of the Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts .

The annual Symphony of the Hills “Pops” concert will feature music from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”, among other classical hits. Tickets for this concert start at just $ 25.

In a concert dubbed “10 Years Together”, the New Buddy Holly Band, which has performed throughout Hill County since forming for a production of “The Buddy Holly Story” at Ingram’s Point Theater, will once again recreate the unique sounds from the early days of American “Rock-n-Roll”.

This year’s show will feature the return of popular guest artist Ruben Exum, who specializes in Motown sound.

Band frontman Greg Bitkower reports that the band have spent many hours in the rehearsal studio, literally adding dozens of new tracks to their show for this year.

The group will again include six members: Michael Martin on drums, Brad Shearhart on bass, Karen Billingsley on keyboard, Chris Huber on guitar, saxophonist David Isadore and Bitkower on guitars, all members sharing the vocal duties during the performance. evening.
